What is the Unsigned Song Contest?

The Unsigned Song Contest is an annual songwriting contest set up by unsigned songwriters for unsigned songwriters. It is an opportunity for unsigned songwriters to get recognised and rewarded for their talents. It is a song contest with an emphasis on quality songwriting and is intended for those who want to pursue a career in the Music Industry.

VIVIEN CUTINO WINS UNSIGNED SONG CONTEST 2008
Vivien Cutino is the winner of Unsigned Song Contest 2008 with her song "Butterfly". Click here to hear it.
Rebecca Poole and John E Vistic Experience picked up the two runner-up spots. As a result all three winners will perform on 27th May at the Unsigned Song Contest Live Showcase from Colston Hall Bristol which will be headlined by Simon Fowler from legendary Brit-band Ocean Colour Scene. Well done to all those who reached the final 20.
The final 10 songs in Unsigned Song Contest 2008 will be announced sporadically from Friday 14th to Tuesday 18th March.

FINAL 20 WILL BE ANNOUNCED...
Thank you to all of you who have entered Unsigned Song Contest 2008.
We received a huge amount of fantastic material from songwriters of a truly professional standard.

The Top 20 songs entered into Unsigned Song Contest 2008 will be announced sporadically between Saturday 8th March - Wednesday 12th March on www.unsignedsongcontest under the 'Finalists 2008' tab on the left side of the main page. Be sure to keep checking back there during that time to find out if you made the final 20.

For those who don't make the final 20 they will receive feedback on their material within 90 days of the closing date. Also, we are yet to do the prize draw for the Roland BR Portable Digital Recorder we have to give away. So stay tuned.

USC DIRECTOR ON BBC RADIO BRISTOL
Unsigned Song Contest Director Blain Weller was on BBC Radio Bristol this morning to promote the contestand last year's winners Better Than Sax. Pronouncing his passion for songwriting, Weller spoke about the success of last year's contest, the enthusiasm of the guest judges, and last year's winners followed by a playing of 'Out In The Cold' by Better Than Sax. OCEAN COLOUR SCENE FRONT MAN TO HEADLINE
USC LIVE SHOWCASE 2008

Unsigned Song Contest are pleased to announce that Simon Fowler from legendary band Ocean Colour Scene will be performing an intimate live gig at Unsigned Song Contest's Live Showcase this year! The winners of USC 2008 will feature alongside Simon on the bill at Bristol's prestigious venue Colston Hall. USC TO DONATE FUNDS TO MBF & BTA

For every entrance fee received in Unsigned Song Contest 2008, 12% of each fee will be donated to the Musician's Benevolent Fund and British Tinnitus Association.
MBF is a registered chairty
helping around 1,500 people of any age and in any area of the music business who are in need as a result of illness, accident or other misfortune.
BTA is a registered charity providing information and monetry aid to those who suffer from the hearing condition called Tinnitus.
