Better Than Sax

Formed in October 2005, Better Than Sax are a band who live for music.

Based in and around Bristol, the band have a unique approach to their live show, which displays the depth of their individual and collective talents. "We all swap instruments for different songs in the set".

Influenced by the likes of Jamie Culum, Lester Young and Frank Sinatra, BTS emulate the sounds of Jazz and Blues while complimenting some Motown Soul and James Brown Funk. BTS also have a desire to constantly try new ideas. "Because we are interested in many styles of music we don't believe we've found our true sound yet...we are always experimenting."

Recent times have seen BTS perform regualry around Bristol including venues such as The Croft, Redland Hall, QEH Theatre and Denmark Hall.

Always on the look out for people to improve their line-up and consequent sound, BTS recently added Jason Forbes who penned the lyrics and provided lead vocals for their winning song 'Out in the Cold'. It was around this time when BTS also added a second saxophonist to the band. "Both are invaluable assets to the band and our sound."

The remarkable thing about Better Than Sax is that the band members are all only 16 years old.
