1st Runner-Up
Kiran Hungin
'Tomorrow'
Hailing from a village tucked away in the North East of England, Kiran Hungin is amongst the latest crop of musical story tellers offering her own take on the world. Although very much a product of her upbringing, with one parent from Surrey and the other born and raised in Nairobi, life was never a typically Northern affair.
Gravitating towards London via a pit stop at Edinburgh University, Kiran’s journey may have taken a round about route but she has no regrets;
“I’m a firm believer in being ready for things and the fact that I did a degree and got a bit of life experience. I only view it as a good thing, I mean, now I have stuff to write about.”

2006 saw Kiran gain Radio play on Xfm Manchester’s unsigned show as she was had selected by Clint Boon who has made it clear of his praise for her talents, and Kiran also took part in a live session on BBC Radio Norfolk which gave her a taste of things to come.
Kiran now lives in London where she regularly gigs in acoustic venues, as part of a duo, or with a fuller band encompassing the Spanish sounds of the Cajon and the twinkly feel of the glockenspiel to add her own flavour to a genre which is so often overdone. Combining age old topics of love and life with quirky down to earth banter between songs has made fans and friends out of many who manage to catch her.
Kiran’s beautiful lyrics and heartfelt performances have touched many along the journey she has taken so far, and this is only the beginning.
"skilfully combined sweet melodies with thought-provoking lyrical content that bring a new slant to the age-old topics"
" I like to write songs about everyday things….." , says Kiran .But her songs, and her voice, are far from everyday. A bittersweet, thoughtful treat .
